3 Update TACHO Universal Hand-Held Device

Remove the 8 screws, open the up cover, unplug the keyboard cable connector, and then remove the up cover as shown in the figure:

Remove the CPU BOARD :

Remove IC111 and IC112 :

Remove AT24C02 :

Remove PIC12F629:

Install IC111 and IC112. Make sure the install direction is correct. See the figure:

On your board, if there are not components in position 1 and 2, please remove component in position3. and then fix PIC12F629 onto the position on 1. fix OSC on the proper position in 2:

Install CPU BOARD. Make sure install it in correct direction:

Install the up cover and then the 8 screws:

4 Update methods:

Step 1. Remove the CPU BOARD from TACHOPRO i.e. the principal machine

Step 2. Find the location of IC111& IC112 and replace the previous IC on CPU BOARD with the IC111&IC112 of Update Kit. Make sure the IC is properly located with correct direction

Step 3. Find AT24C02 on CPU BOARD. Remove the previous IC by using electric iron and then place AT24C02 on the corresponding location to guarantee the direction of IC. See picture 3A, 3B

Note: pay attention to CPU BOARD in picture 3A. First of all, the IC socket should be taken out from AT24C02 and then weld AT20C02 to the specified position in picture 3B.

The Tacho Pro 2008 is an excellent professional vehicle odometer correction tool, many people want to ask workshop to help them update their tool’s software after they bought it for a period of time. Actually, its’ software update can be installed by yourself. What you need is only a DOS or Windows computer with a serial port and a 0-modem cable. Remember, before you start to update your Universal Dash Programmer, you should erase all EEPROM’s data.

Now first, please connect the cable to your PC and port 2 on the handheld and then start the handheld, choose SYNC for updating. Next please start the update program that you have received from your seller and make sure that there has a working internet connection. Then just wait for a moment until there shows “RESET” on the display. (For new types please contact your seller to get the code you have to type in under update special Menu.)

After the start menu, you will see the main menu with different manufacturers and menu OPTIONS, UPDATE and SYNC.

You can press the button 8 to move up and press button 2 to move down to select the option you want. Then the bar is on the desired menu, press OK. If you have chosen a wrong menu, you can quit by pressing “STOP”.
